I'm Boban Lukić. For the past five years I've built backend platforms in Node.js and TypeScript, most recently as Tech Lead on a fuel-management product with a team of seven. I work with US and EU companies through Lukic Engineering, my Belgrade-based consultancy.

Tech Lead, fuel-management platform

B2B, US client · team of seven (3 frontend, 4 backend)

Took over technical leadership of the team on a legacy fuel-management product. Owned all backend technical decisions, ran code review for the full team, and personally took on the hardest engineering problems. Led the codebase migration from Bitbucket to GitHub and rebuilt the deployment process. Stepped into frontend tasks where AI-assisted development made it cheaper than waiting on the queue.

Senior Backend Developer, fuel-management platform

B2B, US client

Built procurement and invoice-auditing workflows from scratch. Designed integrations with OpenEnvoy for invoice verification and QuickBooks for accounting. Owned backend data modeling, API contracts, and the integration strategy that kept the audit trail intact across both vendors.

Backend Developer, fantasy sports + ledger product

Two products in parallel

On the fantasy sports side, designed and implemented backend logic for fantasy NFL and NBA workflows, integrated third-party sports-data providers, and shipped APIs running on AWS. On the ledger product, initiated the backend with one other developer and owned the API design from the start.

Senior backend engineering

Designing and building production backend systems in Node.js and TypeScript. Architecture, data modeling, integrations, deployment, observability. Embedded as a senior engineer on your existing team or as the engineer for a contained system that you don't yet have the bandwidth to build in-house.

Fractional Tech Lead

Hands-on technical leadership for teams that need a senior decision-maker without committing to a full-time hire yet. Architecture decisions, code review, quality standards, mentoring. Combined with shipping production code, not just running meetings.

Technical audit and consulting

Codebase health checks, architecture reviews, and technical due diligence. Identifying the bottlenecks that will hurt in twelve months and the ones that are hurting now. Output is a written report and a working session, not a slide deck.

MCP tooling I publish on npm.

I publish MCP servers on npm under the bluwork account. They turn database exploration into a first-class workflow for LLM clients. It's the same pattern I use day-to-day on client engagements.

MongoDB schema and data exploration over MCP. Safety-aware tooling for letting an LLM client read a Mongo cluster without giving it a foot-gun.

About

I'm Boban Lukić. I've been writing software for thirteen years and have spent the last five focused on backend platforms. Before that I was solo-shipping Android games on Google Play, including a title that crossed ten million downloads. That period taught me how to ship and how to handle scale. The years since taught me how to build systems that other people maintain.

Most recently I led an engineering team on a US fuel-management product as Tech Lead. Before that I built backend systems for a real-time fantasy-sports platform and started the backend for a ledger-style consumer product.

I run my consulting practice through Lukic Engineering DOO, registered in Belgrade. I work primarily with US and EU companies, in CET / CEST with comfortable overlap with US East Coast working hours.
